Here in Illinois we have a fault line in New Madrid, but the earthquakes are few and far between. I think about a 3 - 3.5 is about the biggest we have had in my lifetime.
I think it was in the mid 1800's there was a large earthquake that cause the Mississippi River to flow north.
After living through the 6.8 in Northridge Ca. in 94, I wouldn't want to go through another big one.
Mum, Will Katrinia affect you or are you far enough North?

WOW MUM Did anything break??? What time was it? That had to be so wierd. They say Oklahoma has more quakes than Cali some years but because they are so small nobody ever really feels them. I could never live in California again!!! You can run from Hurricanes and Tornadoes even Volcanoes But earthquakes just sneak up on you!

Them nice Canadians have sent us some cool rainy weather, for the past couple days.
The same people who take their boats out in this are the same ones who grab their surfboards when the waves are 18 ft. nutZ

CowabuSMASH. Some people just have no regard for their own life. You only get one, you know. I remember my first earthquake. I thought Judgment Day had begun. (I was still very devout back then.) Damn quake broke the needle on my record player. It had come off its locking standard due to the trembling and kept bouncing off of the metal board on the player. That will do it, trust me. Other than that it was quite a unique experience, since there had never been a quake in the country before. Must've been some sorta omen. Arrival of the anti-christ, or something. Earthquakes, wars, and rumors of wars, and such...

I have been watching The Weather Channel all day, I feel so bad for all the people who have lost everything, My prayers go out to them.
It was amazing to watch the reporters trying to broadcast and because of the wind they could barely stand.
